BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS — June 2026 — The US-UK Summit on Race will present its
next global virtual forum, "Race, Reality, and Resistance in a Divided World," on Friday,
June 5, 2026, bringing together distinguished thought leaders from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Jamaica for an engaging discussion on race, equity, democracy, and social change in an increasingly polarized world.
The event is free and open to the public worldwide and will be conducted via Zoom.

Keynote Speaker
Attorney Michael Curry (Boston, Massachusetts, USA
A nationally respected civil rights attorney, community advocate, and public policy leader, Michael Curry has spent decades advancing racial equity, health equity, and social justice initiatives throughout the United States. His leadership and advocacy have influenced policy discussions at the local, state, and national levels. During a time of increasing racial tensions and political polarization, Curry will offer timely insights on leadership, resistance, and the future of racial justice. He is the President & CEO of the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers and on the National Board of the NAACP.
Distinguished International Panel Speakers
Lezlie Taylor (United States)
Lezlie Taylor is an accomplished communications strategist, leadership advisor, and public affairs professional whose work has focused on advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across corporate and nonprofit sectors. Her expertise in organizational leadership and strategic communications provides valuable perspectives on navigating complex conversations about race in today's environment.
Professor Gus John (United Kingdom)
Professor Gus John is one of the United Kingdom's most respected educational reformers, social justice advocates, and public intellectuals. Born in Grenada and based in the UK, he has dedicated decades to challenging systemic racism and advocating for educational equity and
community empowerment. His groundbreaking work has influenced public policy, education
reform, and anti-racism efforts throughout Britain and beyond.
Rev. Marvia E. Lawes (Jamaica)
The Reverend Marvia E. Lawes is a Pan-African Womanist Public Theologian and ordained
Baptist minister with more than three decades of pastoral leadership and ministry experience.
Her scholarship and advocacy explore the intersections of race, gender, spirituality,
environmental justice, and climate change. Rev. Lawes serves in several international leadership roles, including initiatives addressing racism, discrimination, and social transformation.
Attorney Wayne Golding (United States)
Born in Jamaica and now based in Florida, Attorney Wayne Golding is an attorney, entrepreneur, community leader, and advocate for Caribbean-American engagement and empowerment. Throughout his career, he has championed civic participation, economic development, and community leadership while building bridges across diverse populations. His work reflects a lifelong commitment to justice, opportunity, and community advancement.

About the US-UK Summit on Race
The US-UK Summit on Race is an international initiative launched by the Boston-based
Multicultural Symposium Series (MSS) and its Founder, Carole Copeland Thomas, CSP, a
globally recognized diversity strategist, speaker, and consultant. Founded in 2021 following the first anniversary of the murder of George Floyd, the Summit examines the impact of race in both the United States and the United Kingdom as the two nations continue to confront racism, discrimination, inequity, and social division. Since its inception, the Summit has hosted 16 virtual events, attracting participants from more than 16 countries worldwide.
The initiative is supported by U.S.-based corporate sponsors and continues to attract
organizations committed to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging on a global
scale.
