Boston, Mass - September 2025 – In a time of rising political polarization and escalating global debates over democracy, equity, and race, the US-UK Summit on Race will host a timely and urgent conversation on Friday, October 3, 2025. This special Black History Month UK edition of the Summit will bring together leading voices from the United Kingdom and the United States for a virtual event titled: “Democracy Under Siege: Implications of Race and Power.”
Professor Kehinde Andrews, the UK’s first Professor of Black Studies and a widely recognized thought leader, will deliver the keynote address. Known for his fearless scholarship and unflinching critique of systemic racism, Andrews will dissect how race and power intersect to challenge the stability of democratic institutions in both the UK and the US.
Providing a transatlantic response will be Carole Copeland Thomas, US-based global cross cultural professional, speaker, and founder of the Multicultural Symposium Series. With decades of experience in cross cultural leadership and social advocacy, Thomas will underscore the urgency of safeguarding democratic principles through inclusion, truth, and accountability.
The event will be held virtually on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 4:00 PM UK | 11:00 AM Eastern | 10:00 AM Central | 8:00 AM Pacific. Registration is free and open to the public worldwide via Zoom at https://mssconnect.com.
“Democracy is fragile, and when race and power are manipulated as tools of division, the risks extend beyond politics to the very foundation of justice,” said Thomas. “This Summit is designed to illuminate the threats and inspire solutions that honor both truth and equity.”
US UK Organizers include William Wells, Jr. (Minneapolis, Minnesota), Dr. Garth Dallas (Liverpool, England), and Carole Copeland Thomas (Boston, Massachusetts).
Advance registration – which is free – is required to participate.

Founded in 2021, following the first anniversary of George Floyd's murder, the US-UK Summit On Race has held fourteen virtual events attracting hundreds of attendees from sixteen+ countries worldwide. It is sponsored by several US-based corporations and continues to identify corporate sponsors who value the advancement of global diversity, equity, and inclusion.
