Her dissertation develops a pilot program that evaluates the need for trauma-informed care in the workplace, specifically for Black women in leadership positions impacted by various forms of trauma throughout their lifespan. Pilar's ultimate goal is to acknowledge the implications of complex trauma, and critically analyze intersectionality in the workplace, that provides evidence-based solutions to create equitable outcomes, improving overall well-being and reducing health risks among marginalized populations. Pilar has worked in academia, teaching undergraduate and graduate students from William James College and Harvard University in the past several years. In her teaching fellowships, she has taught Ethics, Standards and Professional Practice, and Psychopathology. These experiences have strengthened Pilar's clinical and academic expertise. Pilar devoted several semesters to immersing herself in the curriculum and teaching students The American Psychological Association's (APA) Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct and the study of mental disorders in terms of their causes, development, course, classification, and treatment. As a Founder and CEO of Radical Transformation LLC, Pilar has devoted her entrepreneurial efforts and life work to helping organizations, academic institutions, and corporations nationwide build and implement thriving systems that create inclusive opportunities for people to prioritize their mental health and develop as thought leaders. Furthermore, in her non-profit, Empower Our Crown Foundation, Inc, Pilar, and her team have developed at-risk youth programming to access mental health resources and professional development tools, helping build mental health awareness and leadership competency. These programs have impacted marginalized youth of color throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and beyond. Her dedication to the advancement of her community, commitment to education, and relentless pursuits to eradicate flawed systems has allowed Pilar to be a trailblazing student, advocate, practitioner, and inclusive thought leader.
