Boston, Mass - The US UK Summit On Race presents its eleventh interactive signature event with its June 7th Virtual Program titled "Black History: Peril or Promise Part 2?" The two-hour program will discuss the historical significance of Black History and its importance to the United States, the United Kingdom, and other countries worldwide.
The program will also pay tribute to the fourth anniversary of the death of George Floyd as it examines the increase of anti-DEI legislation across the United States.
The virtual event will take place on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. EST on the Zoom platform. Nearly 200 attendees from multiple countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom, are expected to participate. The event is free and open to the general public worldwide.
The keynote speaker is Cultural Architect Rev. Elijah McDavid, Senior Pastor of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Panelists include Deborah Watts, the cousin of the late Emmett Till and co-founder of the Emmett Till Legacy Foundation; Award Winning Investigative Journalist David Hundeyin of Nigeria; Carol Ann Whitehead, Award Winning Publisher & Event Producer in the United Kingdom, and Amani Simpson, Youth Coach, Speaker, and Filmmaker in the United Kingdom.
Black History has been targeted by several conservative anti-DEI groups in their efforts to devalue its merit and, in some cases, pass legislation against it, similar to the moves to restrict and ban critical race theory.
The US-UK SUMMIT on RACE is an initiative launched by the Boston-based Multicultural Symposium Series (MSS) and its Founder, Global Diversity Professional Carole Copeland Thomas. The Summit explores the impact of RACE in the United States and the United Kingdom as both countries struggle with racism, strife, and discriminatory practices that are associated with oppression across the world.
Founded in 2021, following the first anniversary of George Floyd's murder, the US UK Summit On Race has held ten virtual events attracting hundreds of attendees from ten+ countries worldwide. Several US-based corporations sponsor it and continue to identify corporate sponsors who value the advancement of global diversity, equity, and inclusion.
US UK Organizers include William Wells, Jr. (Minneapolis, Minnesota), Garth Dallas (Liverpool, England), and Carole Copeland Thomas (Boston, Massachusetts.
Advance registration, which is free, is required to participate.
